We are journalists, academics and community activists who devote a large part of our professional lives to the African continent. With this website, we hope to contribute to a better understanding of this continent, whose image is often partial, even caricatured, and whose treatment in the French media is regularly tinged with paternalism.
With our own resources, in complete independence, and relying on contributions from a wide range of backgrounds, we want to develop a critical, diversified and offbeat view of this region of the world, through reports, analyses and investigations carried out as close to the ground as possible. To achieve this, we are particularly keen to carry out joint investigations with African journalists and investigative media, and to foster partnerships with research centres and universities on the continent.
