To support Afrique XXI

RADIO PROGRAM, WEBSITE IN ENGLISH... AFRIQUE XXI IS GROWING. WITH A MONTHLY DONATION OF THE AMOUNT OF YOUR CHOICE, YOU SUPPORT THESE PROJECTS AND ENABLE AFRIQUE XXI TO REMAIN INDEPENDENT AND FREELY ACCESSIBLE TO EVERYONE, WHATEVER THEIR PURCHASING POWER.

Our free paper in french, Afrique XXI, started in September 2021, launch an English-language edition.

Afrique XXI is an on-line free paper which covers the whole continent of Africa and broad questions linked to the diaspora and racism in general. We are registered as an Association in France, and are completely independent of any economic or political influence.

In these three years we have made it our goal to publish original and often passionate work, well documented and fearless, in the struggle against dominant narratives, false information and the falsification of History.

As someone with a deep and long-standing interest in Africa, I have followed Afrique XXI since its creation and quickly came to regard Afrique XXI as an indispensable read. Its pages are full of intelligent reporting and analysis of African politics, history, geopolitics and criticism. Now, with the creation of an English language version, non-French speakers will also be able to better stay abreast of African affairs and enjoy its rich journalism and learn from it. Given the longstanding dearth of quality publications focused on the continent, that’s a very big deal.
Howard French, Columbia School of Journalism, former New York Times bureau chief, author of Born in Blackness : Africa, Africans, and the Making of the Modern World, 1471 to the Second World War, Liveright Publishing Corporation, 2022.

In this anglophone version the articles will be mainly, but not exclusively, on francophone Africa, which of course we already cover. We think that the anglophone world has little access to this information and that the language barrier should not separate people or be a block to knowledge : many economic and political issues and common experiences and related and should be shared.

The Anglo-French linguistic barrier has effectively prevented Anglophones from following the goings-on in some of the most important African and Caribbean countries. Anglophones following Africa and the diaspora are missing half of the story. Moreover, there is simply nothing quite like AfriqueXXI in the English-speaking world, in terms of the range of subjects explored and the depth of the analyses. I wholeheartedly think that an Anglophone section would fill a major gap in our knowledge about Africa. At such a critical time in history, it is imperative that more people have access to the high-quality analysis and reportage that AfriqueXXI provides.
Brian J. Peterson, Professor of History, Union College, NY, author of Thomas Sankara : A Revolutionary in Cold War Africa.

To make this project workable in the long term we need financial support from our readers : Afrique XXI made the choice to be free so that the largest numbers of people would read it, whatever their financial circumstances. Only the contributions of our readers make our existence possible.

Afrique XXI in English will offer anglophones an opportunity to follow a world they rarely see. All this high-quality reflection and reportage is free, and up to now only french speakers have been seeing it. I support it.

In supporting us, you are giving the chance for others who can not afford it to have access to top-class information.

Contributions will allow us to finance this new work (translation, technical and administrative support…..) and to keep our paper going.

Making a contribution will take you only a few minutes, but your support will count so much for Afrique XXI and its thousands of daily readers.

Thank you !
